We were picked up by our new driver, Ritchie (not the same as before). On the way to Greymouth we stopped at Westport where we had a short break. We also had an hour stop where we walked around a headland and saw some seals basking on the rocks below. On arrival in Greymouth dumped my stuff at the YHA then got picked up at were dropped at the Monteiths brewery where at 7pm our tour started. Our guide was a large bloke with tatoos (also the manager of the pub). He skillfully described the brewing process and let us sample the various types of malts. I stupidly tried the hops and had to was my mouth out three times.
After the tour we got free samples of all 7 types of beer as well as a free scooner of our favourite sort. My favourite was Monteiths Black. After the tour we went to a pub where we got another free beer and an all you can eat buffet supper of sausages and salad.
